I love an afternoon tea with a bit of a difference so when I was invited to a blogging event to try the Hendrick’s Gin Afternoon Tea at the Park Plaza I was really looking forward to it. I’ve enjoyed their Gentlemen’s Afternoon Tea in the past, which is an afternoon tea with a twist, so I was expecting great things of the G & Tea.
The Park Plaza is a relaxing place for afternoon tea right in the centre of Cardiff. The afternoon tea is only served in the Laguna Bar giving it a laid back feel. I could imagine going for afternoon tea after a treatment in the spa and staying into the evening for cocktails. On our visit we were welcomed with their Valentine’s cocktail appropriately named J’adore. It was a delicious blend of champagne, vanilla vodka, passionfruit liqueur and grapefruit juice. It’s only going to be available on Valentine’s Day and I’d recommend popping in for one if you can.
The afternoon tea consisted of traditional finger sandwiches, scones, cakes & pastries and a gin cocktail. The finger sandwiches were traditional fillings that complimented the fresh floral taste of gin such as cucumber, dill & cream cheese and smoked salmon. The scones were warm with sultanas in and came with clotted cream and strawberry preserve. The cake layer had wonderful sweets such as macarons and strawberry tarts with champagne cream. The tea is served with a Hendrick’s Elderflower Collins cocktail served in a delightful Hendrick’s tea pot. Although I usually think that afternoon tea should come with a pot of warm tea, a refreshing gin cocktail was a lovely change. It would be perfect for a summer’s day and a pot of tea (supplied by the local Waterloo Tea) is only £2.75 if you feel the need.
I really enjoyed my afternoon tea and I’d highly recommend it. I have a few gin loving friends that I’ll be going back with soon.
The Hendrick’s Gin Afternoon Tea is £21.95 a person and is served between 2.30 pm and 5.30 pm daily.
Looks like a lovely experience. I do like Hendricks in a cup!

Oh wow this looks wonderful!!! It’s a shame I’m allergic to cucumber, but I’d quite happily have the rest 😉 x

What a shame! I don’t like cucumber so tried to avoid it as much as possible. I definitely think you’d like the rest though! 😊
